Fundraising Activities | Year 8 Prom | School discos | Non uniform days | Performances
We carry out a number of fundraising activities over the school year at Lindisfarne. In the Autumn term we did a sponsored walk which raised money for the school and for leukaemia research. We take part in Red Nose Day and have occasional non-uniform days to raise money. We have also had fun runs, talent shows and many more activities to raise money. After consultation with pupils our latest fundraising activity is running stalls on Wednesdays and Fridays (this will run for four weeks starting on 6th February). Children will be selling home baked produce, old toys, books, CDs and DVDs to raise money for Riting Primary School in Kenya. Different year groups will be running stalls on different weeks. Year 7 will start us off on 6th February, followed by Year 8, Year 6 and finally Year 5. Children are encouraged to bring plenty of change and hopefully we will raise a lot of money for our link school. To find out more about our global links please see our 'Enrichment' page or click here. Year 8 Prom Every year the Year 8s have a prom to celebrate their time at Lindisfarne Middle School and to say goodbye to everyone. Year 8 use an Enterprise Activity Week to plan their prom in teams and present their ideas to a panel of judges. The winning idea is then used in the actual prom. In preparation Year 8 learn country dances and make the effort to dress up and look glamorous! School discos Every now and then we like to get together and have a party! Pupils at Lindisfarne celebrate together with school discos. These are normally organised by Key Stage and we have music, party games, refreshments and lots of fun! Non-uniform days As well as non-uniform days to raise money we also have non-uniform days as a reward for good behaviour and hard work. We have a housepoint system at Lindisfarne and three houses: Longstone (yellow), Staple (blue) and Farne (red). When a child has worked well or tried hard or done something well they receive a housepoint. When each house has over 2000 housepoints we have a 'Wear what top you like' day. The pupils get to wear their own top to school. When each house has over 4000 housepoints we have a 'Wear what bottom you like' day where the pupils wear the trousers or skirt or their choice (as long as it is appropriate for school.) Finally, when each house has over 6000 housepoints we will have a full 'Wear what you want' day. Performances One of the highlights of our school year is the school panto. Mr Palmer and Mr Hulbert write our pantomime every year and the children excel themselves to entertain us and make us laugh. This year our panto was 'Carry on Genie' and the staff and pupils involved put in a lot of hard work to produce an excellent performance. The panto was so popular that we had to put on an extra performance night to meet demand.
